I left similar advise on a members page and then decided it was really simple advise everyone could use, so I added a little more to it for all of you.
By posting a small post about something on your blog or site every week, here, on your blog, and in any other social networks you are in, you will build your web traffic 2 ways.
1. people will see something from you on a regular basis and go see what it is you are so excited about.
2. Your content and keywords that are in your posts will be indexed by the search engines from each site and show links in, from each of them.
If your blog is on Blogger or another large blogging site it will need lots of incoming links and regular posts to boost your blog through all of the competition and get you seen on the search engines.
Free and affiliate websites work the same way. If the company you are an affiliate of has 10,000 affiliates, you have to win the top spot by beating every one of them in the search engines, not easy with a page you can not edit!
Thats right! Those "free websites" they give you are just about worthless on their own. You need your own blog and social profiles with blog and forum posts to draw your customers and the search engines. Your "free" page will only be the link you send interested customers from your posts to buy the product you mentioned in that post.

Do not talk about your products all the time!
Sure, they will come up just as in normal conversation because you are excited about them. But talking just about what you are selling will get you very few customers! This is why I added the most searched terms to Mega Traffic. so you can see what the world is searching for.
Watch that list!
You very seldom see a product listed.
If you do, do not run to try and corner that search phrase! Google it first...... see how many times it was found on Google? That is your competition! Think you can beat all of them out to rank on the first page of a Google search? It would take years for a single person! The top search will probably change tomorrow... You missed that one!
This brings me to teamwork.
1. The Gang Up group allows you to team up and make a difference (and money) quickly as a team.
2. Mega Traffic is a teamwork site. Every post, link, update entered on Mega Traffic by any member will help every member.
I am helping you by bringing our site a higher traffic rank than some more active Ning networks. I allow very little Spam or member adverts all over the place to keep our quality high and the search engines watching us.
All you have to do is post interesting, informative blog and forum posts. Every post you submit will bring you closer to being seen from a search on a major search engine.
The weird part? It does not have to have a single thing to do with what you are marketing! It has to do with what you like, what you know, and who you really are!

Interesting thing about teamwork is that when one person starts commenting on another persons blog within this particular network, you are all boosting each other up in rankings. Its a win win situation.
I think that what you have done on mega traffic is something that maybe people are not really seeing and that is, everyone's post for their blog is on a single page. As soon as you do a new post, all your friends are seeing it. A practical tip would be to start reading the latest posts and take a few moments and create a well thought out answer, thought, idea...translate..keep that persons post or topic of conversation flowing. Such a simple thing to do.
Next ...take your post and take just a part of that article you have done and then send it out to other communites, article directories and link it back to your post here. What will happen is that soon people will come here to this location and if they like what you have done, they will join mega traffic..post a comment ( conversation). They will see who is in this community and next thing you know, more comments are posted to the other bloggers here. This is called viral social networking ( did i coin a phrase...lol...you never know)
Here are few other tips to help you with your blog and SEO
1. On any of the venues where you can create a blog ( and Scott you are correct, in the long run it is better to have your own hosted blog) Use Tags for Free Keyword Boosts. Think about the keywords or tags as they are sometimes called and assign the best of them to your blog. It is wise to not over do this. I know many that quibble about numbers, but I tend to use 7 at the most and they work very well. What you will eventually do is generating a ton of your own themed, keyword-oriented internal backlink pages.
2. Once you have a certain amount of posts on your blog, then Implement Deep-Linking. I am going to concentrate on wordpress once again as I am more familiar with it.
* Within your posts, link to other posts on your blog and use important keywords in the anchor text.
* Install the Similar Posts plugin, which inserts a list of related posts you’ve written to the bottom of each of your blog posts. This process will create aged deep links and increase visitor retention.
* Display your most popular posts in your sidebar using the Popularity Contest plugin. Gives your most popular posts tons of internal links, and helps your visitors find your best content.
Regardless of whether you use wordprsss or not.... deep linking is a simple process. When you write an article, refer to an older post and make sure you add the link page as a hypertext. By doing this, you have brought and older post to the present. Of course you have to make sure that what you are writing is specific to the older post.
3. Focus on search phrases, not single keywords, and put your location in your text (“our Palm Springs store” not “our store”) to help you get found in local searches.
4. Search engines want natural language content. Don’t try to stuff your text with keywords. It won’t work. Search engines look at how many times a term is in your content and if it is abnormally high, will count this against you rather than for you. This blog tip kind of adds to number one
5. Use the words “image” or “picture” in your photo ALT descriptions and captions. A lot of searches are for a keyword plus one of those words.

Just write about something that really made you stop and think...... something you really know how to do... something you just plain love to talk about! Once you get started ... it will come easier.
