A couple of little know facts...
1. Your profiles are ranked the same as any other page, with the right content and links your profile page will rank high. Proof? Check my Twitter profile http://twitter.com/burrdnut as of today it is Google page rank 4. Every link I post in a tweet gets a page rank 4 back link..... How do your profiles rank?

2. Bad content is becoming worse than no content! Proof? The Blog Network http://trafficblognet.com I allowed spammer blogs to stay live (some with not to bad content even) Our Alexa traffic rank has dropped steadily sense I started allowing them (not enough time to check and remove them actually). After a steady climb all summer, the last 2 months have hurt. Check the stats at http://alexa.com , search trafficblognet.com .

Hi Scott, How are you? All is well with me. I am still working on my new site. I am having a hard time importing my posts from blogger to the quick blog cast. Do you know anything about that??

I also am wondering how to add a profile bio on this site. I saw that Diane has one, but I do not have a box or anything to write in. It is just blank under where you enter your info on my profile.

One more thing. I have posted a couple blogs and posts linking to my site on here and several other places but when I look my site up on alexa it only shows one link for blogger.com. What's up with that???

Hi Angie, I am awesome! Good to hear you are well.

Exporting from blogger to another system may not work because of different software, code, or sometimes it is just exported in different order than the new site imports it..... could be almost anything.

I see you must have found the text box to add your profile bio, every member should have a text box they can edit to add what ever content they want in.

Back links is another story. First off, every link you put out there will not be indexed in every SE. Linking from just any site will do you little good unless that site has relevant information on it, thus the need for the info on your profile, blog and forum posts here to make the link relevant. The link Alexia showed is from your Blogger blog with the same info you are putting on your new site. Perfect match! Internal links are as important as external links and easier to make. These will link from relevant content and show that your site has lots of information on this subject so it is an authority. (again ..... more quality content will get you further toward getting seen)

A little known secret is meta data is worthless now because the SEO experts could manipulate how the search engine sees the site with it. The bigger SE's haven't used it in years. But supposed "Guru's" are still trying to sell "SEO packages" that automatically build this stuff that ultimately gets you laughed at by the SE spiders (in some cases not even indexed!). The SE's now select the key words from the copy. All you have to do is know what you are writing about!
The same goes with back links. Just plastering links around will only hurt your site (SE's consider them spam). A link in a well researched, relevant article or blog post (over 500 words unlike what most will tell you.....) will give you a back link. If it is from a site with all relevant content ...... you just scored HUGE!!! The SE spiders will check for relevance. So adding more about your freebies here when you have time will build you a good back link.

It all comes down to what you have online (your web presence) If all you have online is the bull you shoot with friends on social sites? (general statement here.... not saying all you do is shoot the bull... lol) It will take a long time to build a web presence that will make any money. What will See what I am saying?

Each search engine has their own way of doing things which keeps changing..... but if you just stay on track building your web real estate (relevant content) you will win. Back links will come as your web presence rises.

Yeah, I have definitly seen the SEO packages that guarantee traffic, and blah, blah, blah. If I haven't learned anything from you I have learned that. No need to pay so much $$ for something we can do for ourselves.

I think I might have gotten in a bit over my head with the whole plan to move my site. I really wish I would have just purchased the domain through blogger. I have the basic design and colors done but like I said before for some reason I can'y import my old posts.

If you know anyone who is good at quick blogcast and wouldn't mind helping me out please send them my way. I would be more then happy to give them a permenant advertising spot on my blog.

Also, I get what you are saying about the links. My goal is to start posting more blogs about freebies here. Like maybe 1 or 2 a week for the next couple months and see how that works out.

I am getting a decent amount of traffic but little revenue from my ads. I have mostly been using google adsense. However, I just signed up with my media savings and have done pretty good so far. What in your opinion is the best route for ads?

Good to see you are seeing through all the hype already, it sure is easy to want to believe sometimes!

Your importing posts problem I am sure is the difference in software. I have never tried to export posts from my blogger blog so am not sure what form they come in. I also am not familiar quick blogcast but am sure it comes down to MYSQL configuration. Are you sure you want to to move them? Why not just copy and paste the best ones over to your new blog and leave them as another source of information for you to link to, growing your new site from the blogger blog point?
That will save you the headache you have now of moving them and also expand your web presence at the same time.

Now that you have your main site (your new one) be sure to do a main post there, then do posts on other places (like here) describing your main post and linking to it for more information. (will make good links) As you build your knowledge base here it will make a stronger link and the more members that follow by building their knowledge base here will make Mega T an authority on more subjects and build our rank so every member benefits with higher ranking links.

oooooooooh Angie! Don't even get me started on Google Adsense! With millions of hits a day, you may make a little with Adsense. (the only reason there are Google ads on here is it costs about $50 bucks a month to have them removed! The only way to make money with them, offer sites with them on it like Ning and charge to have them taken off! LOL) Do not ever plan on them to make money! Ok.... enough of Adsense.

2 hints here, 1 ads on your site only give your readers a place to escape from your pages, The only time you want them to do this is if you are using your own products in the ads or 2, if you are selling the adspace and making all the money from it. As your site is about freebies I figure your revenue is planed to be from advertising. 3rd party ads are an easy way to sell adspace but will always lose income from one more set of hands...... Pick your advertising partners carefully!

You probably do not want to hear this but here it is..... To make money offering freebies like you do and selling the adspace, you will have to be bringing in hundreds of thousands of hits a day. Your total focus will have to be your traffic and retaining more return visitors. If you worry about the money, you will lose. This is a tall order for one person starting with a brand new domain, but you can do it! Just stick with it and stay focused. I would also be looking into my own advertising software as you grow, It will take that third hand out of the picture and also give you another branch of web presence which could turn into a real money maker.
What are your long term goals? (if you don't want to share your goals just write them down and share them with yourself every time you question your direction.)

A newsletter or RSS email subscription to capture their email addresses are ways of insuring more return visitors by reminding them to come look.... and another source of possible ad revenue. (ads in your newsletter, solo ads sent to your list ect...)

Hi again Angie, I was just at Alexia and they only list one link from each domain, probably the most relevant one. Comments on Blogger blogs won't help much with Alexia links in stats will they? This is a good example of not following one way of thinking. ..... Links in may not show, or help with Alexia traffic rank, but will bring you more traffic from the blogs you comment on. Just like ranking with keywords on SE's ..... a keyword on the first page of a search is a wonderful thing, but it won't get you any traffic if no one searches for that keyword! On the other hand if you have lots of copy out there on social profiles and blogs ect with a keyword you could never rank well with on SE's because of competition ..... it may bring you lots of traffic.

Don't fall for those SEO tools or memberships! Most won't work and the ones that do may leave you with keywords ranking on the first page of a search and still no traffic to your blog or site because no one is searching for them!

The best way to get Internet traffic? Well written posts on sites like this and SEO Traffic Blog Network using key phrases that actually describe what you are talking about in your post!
